Constitutional Convention The United States Constitutional Convention took place from May 25 to September 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to address problems in governing the United States of America, which had been operating under the Articles of Confederation following independence from Great Britain. Imagine that you have been asked to a LHS Handbook Convention today to revise the LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL HANDBOOK, Describe a suggestion you would make? If i was asked to revise the lincoln high school handbook I would suggest changing the rule of the student I.D. The rule of coming before school to replace your I.D if you lost it or something for free shouldn't be different than doing it during school and having to be punished with a detention. Whats the difference of getting your I.D before school than during school? I belive that rule is not fair, has no meaning to it, and really needs TO BE CHANGED!
ReplyDeleteIf i was asked to revise the LHS school handbook, I would suggest that all 9-12 be able to leave campus for lunch. I appreciate the fact that us seniors and juniors have the privilege to leave the schools campus at lunch, but I feel that since were all in high school, then it should be an equal oppurtunity for us all to be eligible to leave campus during lunch. If this would be the case, then there wouldn't be as many students sneaking off campus on the daily basis. It would make a lot of students happy and it would also be fair.
ReplyDeleteStudents who are unable to drive would have a difficult time going off campus, do you think they would have trouble finding transportation?
ReplyDeleteI believe the under classmen would have trouble finding transportation and the fact that the freshmen+sophmores are not the most mature group would somehow find a way to ruin that privilege for everyone else. I think its best to keep it the way it is. (No offense to under classmen)
ReplyDeleteIf I went to the Lincoln High School handbook convention I would revise the one thing I am strongly against and opinionated about, which is the qualification for Distinguished Scholars. On page 10 of the student handbook it states that in order to be a distinguished scholar you must have no B’s, unless in an AP class, throughout your high school career. Why is it only AP classes and not honors too? Our GPA adds extra points for honors and CSF gives extra points for AP classes and HONOR classes so why should someone not be a distinguished scholar because of a B in an advanced class like an honors class? I would revise this in the handbook as to be a distinguished scholar you must have a 4.0 or higher all four years and nothing less than a “A” and nothing less than a “B” in an AP or Honors class. How is it fair that a student taking no AP or honors classes throughout their high school career be given a distinguished scholar award but a student who has taken many AP classes, Honor classes, is ranked, and has never fallen below a 4.0 not be a distinguished scholar because of a B in a HONORS class. Makes no sense and needs to be revised!
ReplyDeleteThe ID first of all i understand is important, and i will follow the rules, i'll wear it. i don't think we should get detentions or have to pay for another one if we don't have it. I think that the school is doing enough already. they are worried about other kids on campus, they are on a different schedule. We already have campus security.
ReplyDeleteMo' said it!
i think that we should be allowed to have our phones on because we might have problems at home or there might be an emergency that we need to get to but we cant because our phone is off or it got tooken away.luis valle 6 period 9/23/10 3:44pm
ReplyDeleteI agree with the phones on campus change, there are so many things that can happen where you may need your phone at school, like myself sometimes I need to get a hold of my parents but if I needed to I would have to go to the office I don't feel it's fair because if it is a private problem then the whole office hears you, I think it is important for us to be able to use phones I can understand if it is restricted but if it just goes off in class it shouldn't be' taken and most teachers take the phone, when honestly most of the time it is a parent.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the cell phones at school it would be so much more help of we were allowed to use them at school, what the school doesn't understand is that most of the kids at the school don't need to text anyone but there parents for emergency purposes. Like if you have a personal problem you aren't going to want to go to the office to call so they can all hear.
